Thomas Family

This session was originally scheduled for a Tuesday morning. That morning, I woke up to rain pouring outside. The forecast called for rain ALL DAY LONG. Fortunately, this family was able to reschedule. We couldn't have asked for a better day! It felt SO perfect outside! I LOVED this session!

Miller Family

I photographed the Miller Family back in the spring, and was SO happy to get the chance to do it again.

They are SO full of love and SO sweet. I promise, when I'm around these fabulous families, I forget I'm working!

Alex + Jason: October 31, 2009

When Alex and I first met back in May, I LOVED the idea that her fiance and she had decided to get married on Halloween. Her fiance, Jason was ALL about tradition. He loves traditions and sentiment, which played out through their entire wedding. Halloween is one of Jason's favorite holidays, which is why he wanted to get married on that day. He met Alex while they attended Greater Imani Church on Austin Peay, which is why they wanted to get married there. Jason even has the church tattooed on his head. He LOVES tradition.

The guys had to walk through a tunnel to get to their spots before the ceremony. It was the scariest tunnel I've ever seen... definitely something out of a horror movie. We were cracking up that this is the last place they hang out before the wedding ceremony.

Alex and her mother-in-law surprised Jason with a bagpipe player during the ceremony. It was SO perfect for them and goes back to Jason's love for family tradition!

Jason and Alex started "talking" while he worked behind the desk at the church, where he monitored the gym. Alex said she would always come and hang out with him while he worked. We definitely needed to recreate the moment!

Zachary, Jr.- 26 Weeks

I HATE having my picture taken. Seriously, I HATE it. I get all silly and giggly and don't know how to act. I think that's why I went into producing and then into photography. I've pretty much made a living being BEHIND the camera. However, as a photographer, I realize how important it is to capture special moments in your life. Whether it be through journaling or photography, I really believe it's important to document those times you'll never be able to recreate.

That being said, I've been wanting to have some maternity pictures while the weather is still nice. The only problem is that I've been SO swamped with weddings, family sessions and holiday preparation, I haven't had time to schedule any. This afternoon, the weather was nice and I was still dressed up from a wedding, so I asked Zach if he would mind taking a few pictures that I could use in Zachary's baby journal.

We drove down the street and basically took all of these about a mile from our house. I was SO proud of the job Zach did. I know I'll always cherish these pictures, especially knowing who was behind the camera.

On another note, I wanted to thank everyone who has been continuing to pray for Zachary, Jr. and his kidney problems. We went to a specialist this week and he pretty much ruled out the possibility of down syndrome, which was a relief. However, the kidneys still have way too much fluid and aren't draining properly. I'll continue to see a specialist every two weeks or so until Zachary arrives. Once he's here, they will run some more tests to figure out what is going on. I'll be sure to keep you posted. But again, thank you SO much for all your prayers and support. We're SO blessed to have so many wonderful people in our lives.

Summy Family

I met the Summy Family at their home. There's something SO special about photographing families in their home. It gives kids a chance to really be themselves and adds a warmth to the photos.

I LOVED how these turned out!

When Zach and I start having multiple kids (we're going to have a big family, although I'm not sure he realizes that yet), I can only hope they love each other as much as these two.

Such a fun session with such a great family!

Beckett: Sneak Peek

I'm probably biased since he's the son of one of my closest friends, but isn't he SO precious?!?!? I met Katie to take these pictures at their home today, and I couldn't resist posting a few of my favorites.
