Sisters: Bridal Portraits

My sister and I were married about three months apart, 2 1/2 years ago. My sister worked out a deal with her photographer that he would do a bridal shoot of the two of us together. That was ALL my Mom wanted. For months, she talked about how great it would be to have a giant bridal portrait of the two of us, in our wedding gowns, hanging in her foyer. My sister talked back and forth with the photographer about the session, and after a series of events... it just never happened. A year later, my mom begged us to have someone (anyone!) to take our pictures, so she could have that one photo she'd be dreaming about. It was ALL she wanted for Christmas.

My sister and I got together AGAIN, trying to plan it. I can't remember all the reasons why, but again, it never worked out. It was always in the back of my mind. I was determined to make it happen. But, the next thing I knew, I was pregnant... and far from being able to fit into my dress. My mom has since given up on that dream, but is eager to tell us how disappointed she is, whenever she gets the chance.

Fast forward to about two months ago... My good friend, Allison, contacted me about doing a bridal session with her sister, as a surprise for her mother. The first thing I said was "OH NO!! My Mom will be SO jealous." I immediately agreed, since I knew how special it would be.

As soon as I left the session, I called my Mom and said "Ok, so you're going to see a session pop up on my blog and I need you NOT to be mad at me. In fact, you may not even want to look at them, because I'm pretty sure they're going to torture you and I won't hear the end of it." Of course, she wanted to know what type of session it was.

As soon as I told her, she responded "I hate you."

I'm pretty sure she didn't mean it... but I'm also pretty sure this sneak peek is going to drive her into an angry, jealous rage. So, Mom, I'm sorry our pictures never worked out, but maybe there's hope for the future. You never know.

For now, try to sit back and enjoy the awesomeness of these photos without envy...

Again, I'm VERY SORRY.

We spotted this AWESOME tree at the very end of the session and decided to use it, in hopes of getting an "artsy" shot. I told them I wanted them to pose in a willowy, dark way. I LOVE how this came out. They ROCKED it!

Newborn and Fall Leaves

Having a precious little newborn in the home, as the leaves and seasons start to change... does it get any better than that?? We started this session at the family's home, before heading around the corner for a few family pictures.

I LOVE every single one of these.

Sweet Meyers

This was my third time to work with this sweet family. I still can't get over how fast babies seem to grow in their first year. It makes me realize how important it really is to capture each stage of it.

Isn't Meyers turning into such a smily, cute little girl?!? I can't wait to see how much she's grown by our next session!

Nutt Family

I spend so much time photographing families with little children, so when I get the chance to photograph older kids, I get really excited. There's something about this chapter in a family's story that is so fun!

I LOVED this family and this session. This family picked a park around the corner from their home, because they have so much history and so many memories at that place.

Working With My Brother: Sneak Peek

Today is a bittersweet day. I get a few more hours with my brother, his wife, and my niece and nephew. But at the end of the day, I have to say goodbye, as they get ready to head back to Central Asia, where they live.

While Dan is leaving today, you'll be seeing him and his work popping up on my blog throughout the next couple of weeks.

Dan is an AMAZING photographer, and I've had the privilege of being able to shoot with him over the past two weeks. Dan has spent quite a bit of time editing and shooting, and I've finally got my hands on some of those pictures, so I thought I'd give you a little sneak peek of what I'll be sharing with you over the next couple of weeks.

First up (and the most exciting one, in my opinion), here's a little preview of a project that Dan and I got to work together on in South Collierville. I'll be sharing much more about that in the next couple of weeks! I'm SO excited about this!!

Dan and I also got together for a MASSIVE family session with all bajillion of my immediate family members at the lake. Here's a couple shots Dan took while I was taking pictures for the family. I'll be sharing all those family pictures in the next couple of weeks!

Next, while Dan and I were on vacation with our family, we woke up at 6:00 AM to try to catch the sunrise over Paris Landing. Here's a couple shots taken and edited by Dan. I'll be sharing the actual sunrise pictures in the weeks to come!

(I LOVE the pregnancy bump here)

In addition to this, Dan took plenty of amazing pictures in the Collierville and Memphis area. When he gets those edited, I'll share those as well!

Dan is currently working on the finishing touches of his website now, but I'm excited to share that when it is ready.

I LOVE my family SO much, and photography has always been something that Dan and I have shared. These pictures mean SO much more to me than anyone will ever realize and I'm SO anxious to share those with all of you in the coming weeks.

Long Family

You've probably seen this family on my blog SEVERAL times over the past year. They were one of the first people that supported me when I started the business, and I've had the privilege of photographing them ever since.

I loved every single picture from this session. The weather was gorgeous, the kids were in a great mood: Everything about it was PERFECT.

Kelly Family

I was SO excited to get to photograph these two kids again! They have SO much personality and SO much life... I can't get enough of them. I could tell you about all the fun we had this day, but I think the pictures speak for themselves.
