Jessica + Chris

Jessica and I were friends in college, sorority sisters at Union University.

I very clearly remember the first time Jessica contacted me about doing her wedding pictures. It was last summer, about a week after I launched my family photography business. Needless to say, I was still VERY insecure about where my photography was headed and if the business would succeed.

I believe the conversation went something like this...

"Me: Um... are you out of your mind? There is NO FREAKING WAY I'm going to be held responsible for your wedding pictures.

Jess: But Elizabeth, I've seen your stuff and I need someone I can trust.

Me: That's the problem- you can't trust me. No. I'm not doing them, but I'll help you find someone.

Jess: PLEASE?!?!? What do I have to do to make you change your mind??

Me: Ok... I MAY do it, but only if you promise that you won't be mad if I ruin the most special day of your life by butchering your photos."

Looking back, I think I MAY understand what my husband means when he tells me I have NO confidence in myself. I'm working on that. :)

Now, I'm several weddings in and am finding that I actually LOVE IT. I have a lot of things to learn about the wedding business, but the former TV news producer in me loves the thrill of documenting a big, live moment. Not to mention, the joy of being able to capture the biggest moment in these couples' lives.

Jess, I thoroughly enjoyed being there for your big day. You and Chris are TRULY a great couple together. Thank you so much for believing in me from the very beginning. I hope you enjoy!

Sigler Family

Does this family look familiar? I did Miss Delia's newborn pictures back in March, and am SO happy to be documenting her first year. This time, I met The Sigler Family in Harbor Town, on the river. When Emily told me that's where she wanted to do the pictures, I was a little nervous, because bright sunlight is never good for pictures. But, we found this gorgeous tree next to the water, and managed to do the entire shoot underneath the tree. Who would have thought?

I had such a great time on this gorgeous, sunny Sunday afternoon.

Thank you guys, I can't wait until our shoot this fall!

Lee Family

My internet is still down and it will be apparently be Friday until someone is able to come out to my house and attempt to fix it. We'll see how that goes. In the meantime, I'm doing the best I can checking emails at friends' houses and coffee shops. If I don't respond to your email right away, please know I'll get to it SOON.

Right now, I'm at Square Beans Coffee, a fantastic coffee shop in the middle of the Town Square, using their free wireless. What would I do without Square Beans??

The Lee Family lives in Paris, TN. That's where I did Shanna's maternity shoot and their newborn shoot. This time, the Lee's are moving, and so they needed to get their shoot in before they left town, so they drove up to Memphis to meet me. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with this family and wish them well in the future.

Internet Problems

My internet is down at my house, and won't be back up for a couple of days. I stopped by my parent's house for a few minutes, and noticed I have 65 emails that I haven't responded to yet. PLEASE be patient until Comcast can get us back online. I guess we're just one of the hundreds affected by this week's storms.

Thanks again for being patient!

Grandma and Ray: Sneak Peek

One of my best friends in the entire world got married last weekend to a man who makes her laugh and smile like a 16-year-old teenager. That friend of mine also happens to be my grandmother. She made the most beautiful bride! Last Saturday was quite possibly one of the most memorable days of my life.

I couldn't be happier for Grandma and Ray, as they embark on their new chapter in life.

The pictures won't be ready for a few more weeks, but I couldn't resist posting a few now.

The King Family

When Rebecca contacted me about doing some pictures for her and her husband, I was SO excited. So often after marriage, couples forget to stop and capture "them."

They've been married for two years, but act just like newlyweds. They giggled together, played together, and genuinely enjoyed and respected each other. It was a delight to spend a couple hours with these two.

The Federico Family

These little brothers were SO much fun. Besides looking SO much alike, they had completely different personalities, which made their session so fun.

We battled the heat and humidity, but it was well worth it.

I had so much fun hanging out with this family. They were so laid back and fun. I think this little man smiles exactly like his mom. They both have big, huge grins. Love it!

The Link Family

The Link family was SO laid back and SO easy to work with. When they showed up, they just hung out, letting me capture how they are as a family. I LOVE that. They played and laughed, as if the camera wasn't even there.

Thank you guys! I hope you enjoy!

The Miller Family

Rachel and I grew up in the same neighborhood and attended the same school and church. Her mom was the secretary at my elementary school and is a crucial part of my childhood memories.

It was SO nice to run into Rachel after all these years. Her family is absolutely stunning and SO sweet.

Rachel, I hope you enjoy!

Portis Family

Memphis in May is known for a LOT of things... especially pop-up thunderstorms. This Sunday, there was a chance for thunderstorms all day long. The Portis Family was definitely ok with battling it out. Storms would roll in, and we'd all take off for cover. A few minutes later, the sun would come back out.

It was definitely interesting, but well worth it.

I LOVE how much this family laughed together. They were all SO engaged with each other. I didn't have to work very hard to capture how close these three are.

I LOVE this next picture. They could not stop laughing after the mom accidentally got a big lipstick print on his cheek after kissing him.

Sniady Family

This little cutie was SO precious. She definitely was much more interested in exploring than sitting down and looking at the camera. She was SO full of energy, it was SO precious.

She LOVES Minnie Mouse, so I thought her mom's idea for an outfit was SO brilliant!

Tubbs Family

For once in about a month, I feel like I can actually breathe. I'm slowly starting to dig myself out of the mountain of things on my "to do" list. Somehow, in the past 4 days, I've been able to edit 6 sessions, shoot two weddings, and still have time for a family session.

I'm slowly starting to feel like I'm making progress.

Here are a few of my favorite pictures from the Tubbs Family. This little cutie had not had a good nap on the day of her shoot, and gave us a good 15 minutes before she started getting fussy. Her mom was so patient while we waited for her to stop crying... and with me, after I locked my keys in the car and had to wait for a locksmith to come help me out!

Seriously- a VERY patient mom!!

The Russell Family

I spent my Friday night, a couple weeks ago, with the Russell Family. This family was SO sweet. Dad is a teacher and coach in Fayette County and mom used to teach. I LOVE teachers! I'm sure all that intelligence will come in handy when it comes to raising this little cutie.

Baker Family

I spend most of my time photographing families with children, so when I get to photograph a family with a teenager, I get really excited. There is something SO special about this time in a family's life... I was THRILLED to get to capture that for the Baker Family.

Perry Family

So, this age is not always the easiest to photograph. Kids, age 2-3 often have SO much energy and are more interested in running around and playing than stopping to look into the camera. This session was no exception. Mom was worried we weren't getting any shots.

Turns out- we had too many good shots to choose from!

The Tibbett Family

I had such an amazing time with this family. The weather was FAR from delightful. It was hot and muggy, but yet they were still as cheerful as could be. I really enjoyed getting to laugh and hang out with every single one of them.

Here are a few of my favorites from the day.

The Keegan Family

The Keegan Family is one of my "one year" clients and this shoot was their first one. Last I heard, little baby Keegan should have arrived this week! I'm still waiting to hear from Mom, but we've been praying everything turned out ok.

I cannot wait to meet their new addition!

The Shankle Family

Zach and I met in Jackson, TN at Union University. I LOVE the city so much. It's the perfect mix between a small and big town. I always enjoy going back there for shoots.

I met the Shankle family at the UT Ag Center for a family shoot. As you can see, there family is about to change and they wanted to get some pictures before that happens. The love of this family was SO obvious and so easy to capture!

As you can tell, I had SO many favorites. It was too hard for me to choose just a few-- so I didn't! :)
